Keep it Sane

Apparently Electric Daisy Carnival Dallas was getting pretty out of hand this past weekend. 1 concert-goer is dead, at the age of 19, and dozens other hospitalized.  This comes after another teenager, a 15 year-old girl died of an Ecstacy overdose at EDC Los Angeles just last year.  If rave-goers don't get their act together and start acting responsibly, the future of the EDC festival series may be at stake.  The CEO of promoter Insomniac, Pasquale Rotella released this statement:

"Our condolences and deepest sympathy go out to the family and friends of the man who passed away tonight. To go from a moment of happiness and enjoyment, to the loss of life, is very heartbreaking. We would like to ask everyone to keep the concertgoer and his family in their thoughts and prayers. Along with the independent local promoters in Dallas, we will work with the authorities to understand how this tragedy occurred."

Artists are taking notice too.  Skrillex posted a few tweets about the happenings at EDC Dallas.  His set was cut short after a fire-alarm was pulled and he was threatened by local police to stop his set or face arrest.

"I don't know what happened last night at EDC Dallas. There are a lot of rumors floating around but regardless of what really went down, I see kids passing out and being taken away in ambulances quite a lot at these raves and It's very upsetting to me."

..."I'm not one to force my ideals onto other people but I just wanted to say one thing: Please take care of yourselves and STOP getting completely fucked out of your mind on all of these drugs. Be responsible, have an amazing time but don't kill yourself in the process. I really do care about people and it makes me upset to see this sort of thing happening."

Well put.  Behind all the pounding bass-lines, it seems Sonny Moore is a pretty sensible guy.  My guess is a few too many ravers got hopped up on who knows what, and couldn't handle the madness Skrillex threw at them. by either passing out themselves, or going to ape-shit others got hurt.  Diplo, producer, and half of Major Lazer described the situation:

"It was crazy, there were just too many kids on stage."
